Daniel L. Blakeman – Executive Vice President, Engineering & Projects
Mr. Blakeman joined GeoBiotics in March 2010 and is responsible for overseeing technical aspects of all field demonstration and commercial development projects worldwide. He has over 35 years of experience in the mining industry, including technical and management positions with both operating and engineering companies. His experience encompasses all phases of project development and operation, including project evaluation, metallurgical testwork, pilot plant design and operation, feasibility studies, permitting, process design, detailed design, construction, commissioning, operation, and maintenance. Mr. Blakeman holds a B.S. degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines.
Thomas R. Clark – Manager, Research and Development
Dr. Clark is responsible for coordinating all GeoBiotics testwork programs at independent laboratories worldwide, as well as for managing the GeoBiotics corporate laboratory in Lakewood, Colorado. Dr. Clark has more than 15 years of experience as a senior R&D scientist, with expertise in biooxidation, process development programs, and microbiology, including 11 years as a senior scientist with Little Bear Laboratories in Golden, Colorado. Tom earned his Ph.D. in Biology, with emphasis on biochemistry and environmental microbiology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York. He also earned a M.S. in Biology from Rensselaer Polytechnic, and a B.A. in Biology from State University of New York.
Susan Riley – Manager, Project Development
Based in Lakewood, Colorado, Ms. Riley is responsible for project and client development, including marketing and commercial business development. She has more than 20 years of professional experience in sales and marketing of engineering and construction services to the mining industry, with focus on international EPCM contracts for process plants and infrastructure projects. Ms. Riley’s experience includes business development roles with CH2M HILL, Jacobs Engineering, Minproc Engineers, and Davy McKee Corporation.
Consultants
Steve C. Brady – Senior Consultant
Mr. Brady joined the Company in 1996 as Vice President, Business Development, and was appointed President in January 2001 and Chief Executive Officer in June 2007. In 2011, he stepped down as an officer and director, but continues to provide business and technology advisory services to the Company. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Brady spent more than 25 years in the mining industry, most recently as Vice President, Business Development with MinCorp Ltd., an engineering and construction services firm. Previously, he held positions of Vice President, Marketing for Minproc Engineers, Senior Sales Manager with Fluor Mining and Metals, and various engineering, technology development, and marketing positions at Dorr-Oliver Inc. and Dorr-Oliver Pty. Ltd. in Australia. Mr. Brady holds a Professional Engineering degree in Metallurgy from the Colorado School of Mines.
Michael J. Gunn – Senior Technology Consultant
Based in Brisbane, Australia, Mr. Gunn provides technical project management for GEOCOAT® and GEOLEACH™ technologies. He has over 30 years experience in the mineral processing industry specializing in operations and process design. He gained operating experience with Anglo American in Zambia, CRA in Bougainville, then with RGC, Selwyn and Ok Tedi in Australasia. Mr. Gunn acquired feasibility study and process design skills working with Minproc Engineers, and later consulted to major engineering and consulting groups. He has undertaken a broad range of mineral processing and hydrometallurgy design and process consulting assignments worldwide, largely in base metals and gold. Mr. Gunn holds a B.App.Sc. in Metallurgy from the University of New South Wales.
Enrique Carretero – Senior Business Consultant
Based in Santiago, Chile, Mr. Carretero provides client and project development services. He has 40 years of experience as a professional in the chemical and mineral industry, and as a teacher and researcher in several universities and institutions in Chile. This experience includes Head of Research in the Industrial Chemical Engineering School in Universidad del Norte, Head of Research and Development for Codelco at El Teniente, Head of Research and Development in Mining Chemicals for Shell, and Project Metallurgist and Metallurgical Manager for Billiton Chile. Mr. Carretero was involved in adapting a new bioleaching process for Collahuasi, and spent 7 years developing projects for the BIOX® and BioCOP® processes. Mr. Carretero holds a Civil Chemical Engineer degree from Universidad Católica Valparaiso and M.Sc. degree in Chemical Engineering from University of Missouri - Rolla.
Guillermo J. Kelly – Senior Operations Consultant
Mr. Kelly joined GeoBiotics in 2007 and is based in Santiago, Chile. He has more than 25 years experience in the mining industry, specializing in areas such as Operations, Metallurgy, Projects and Procurement. Mr. Kelly started his career with Codelco Andina, and later spent 14 years with BHP Billiton at Cerro Colorado. Mr. Kelly holds an Extractive Metallurgical Engineer degree from the Universidad de Concepción in Chile.
Paul I. Harvey – Senior Bioleaching Consultant
Mr. Harvey joined GeoBiotics in 2005 as Vice President-Base Metals, and has been instrumental in the development and application of GEOLEACH™ and GEOCOAT® technologies at laboratory-, demonstration- and commercial-scale. After relocating to Johannesburg, South Africa in late 2009, Mr. Harvey stepped down from his role as VP, but remains a senior technical consultant to GeoBiotics on a part-time basis. Mr. Harvey has more than 15 years experience in the mineral technology field, specializing in biotechnical applications. He gained operating experience at the Fairview Mine BIOX® plant in South Africa and with Alliance Copper Limited in Chile, where he was involved in the process model development, design, commissioning and operation of the Alliance BioCOP® prototype plant. Mr. Harvey acquired additional bioleach piloting, process modeling, plant design and feasibility study skills with BHP Billiton Technology in South Africa. Mr. Harvey holds B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Chemical Engineering and an M.B.A. from the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg.
Amado Guzman – Instrumentation and Heap Leach Consultant
Mr. Guzman joined GeoBiotics as a retained consultant in September 2009. He has more than 25 years of experience in the consulting arena, with particular expertise in projects related to reactive transport in porous media. He has been involved in numerous mining and minerals processing projects worldwide related to porous media characterization, process optimization, and facility closure including pit lakes, leach pads, and waste dumps. Mr. Guzman has published a number of technical papers related to optimization of leaching facilities, numerical simulations of flow and transport through partially saturated materials, flow through fractured rocks, and aquifer and subsurface characterization. He earned a B.S. degree in Hydrologic Engineering from Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana in Mexico City, and completed graduate coursework for a Ph.D. in Hydrology and Water Resources at the University of Arizona.
